History of Basin

A Brief History of Basin

Basin was a relatively major stop for the CB&Q in Wyoming.

Basin, the Big Horn County seat, is a few miles south of Greybull along the Big Horn River. It's modern-day population is just a little over 1,200.

This large flour mill was located in Basin. I don't know when it was built, nor when it closed, if indeed it has (I'm pretty sure it DID close, but that's just a guess, really).

This is the Basin Depot shortly after the rail line was completed in the very early 1900s.

Downtown Basin in 1911. Looks like its about one person away from being a ghost town, doesn't it?

Main Street Basin in the 1940's.

And a couple of views from September, 2003 along the tracks in Basin.
